On the occasion of International Yoga Day, celebrated annually to promote health, harmony, and inner peace, a special yoga awareness session was organized at Seva Chakkara Children’s Home on 14th June 2025 at 4:00 PM. The event was conducted by students from Anna Yoga and Naturopathy College & Hospital, who volunteered their time and knowledge to introduce our children to the benefits of yoga and healthy living.
The session began with a brief introduction about the importance of International Yoga Day, its origin, and how yoga serves as a bridge between mind, body, and soul. The yoga students explained that yoga is not only a physical exercise but also a discipline that nurtures concentration, emotional balance, and inner strength.
Under the supervision of Ms. Jessylara, Program Coordinator, the children participated enthusiastically in the yoga demonstration. The instructors guided them through a series of simple asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) suitable for children. Each movement was explained carefully, emphasizing correct posture and breathing techniques. The children practiced with great interest and curiosity, displaying eagerness to learn.
The session also included short relaxation techniques and meditation practices to help the children calm their minds and improve focus. The instructors interacted warmly with the participants, explaining how regular yoga practice can help reduce stress, increase flexibility, and promote overall well-being.
At the end of the session, the yoga students shared valuable tips on maintaining a balanced lifestyle, proper diet, and daily routines that support good physical and mental health. Ms. Jessylara appreciated the efforts of the visiting team and thanked them for their dedicated service and kind support. The children expressed their happiness and gratitude for having learned something new and beneficial for their health and growth.
